There's a bit of a debate going on about Apple endorsing Al Gore so publicly on their home page.
But consider the poll numbers:
A vast majority, 85 percent, believes global warming probably is occurring.
(Source: ABC News)
Before you cry for the 15%, consider that a majority of Americans don't believe in evolution:
God created humans in present form 55%
Humans evolved, God guided the process 27%
Humans evolved, God did not guide process 13%
(Source: CBS News)
So, there is more groundswell support for global warming than there is for the theory of evolution.
I make this point because evolution shouldn't be controversial. What science believes is the best explanation for the variety of species on earth doesn't have to be at odds with a story about a guy who loads up animals in an ark.
There are more people who think that one should take a literal interpretation of a book several milennia old as evidence that a modern scientific theory is invalid than there are people who believe global warming isn't occurring.
Now I suppose the numbers might drop a little if you were to ask "is the cause of global warming related to human activity", but my point is, if calling a spade a spade is controversial, then kudos to Apple for saying (to quote Jack Nicholson) "Go peddle crazy somewhere else. We're all full up here."
